The Johannesburg quartet Tumi And The Volume deliver world-class political hip hop with a jazzy edge and poetic power. MC Tumi Molekane cites Zimbabwean novelist Dambudzo Marechera as a key influence. He is joined by David Bergman on bass and Mozambicans Tiago Paulo on guitar and Paulo Chibanga on drums. Their debut album was At The Bassline (2004), followed by TATV (2006) and Pick A Dream (2010).
