Womex !

The biggest international world music trade fair, WOMEX, kicks off this week in Copenhagen 27-31 October. The conference is a chance for professionals from around the world to meet, generate future projects and discover new artists. Mondomix will be there to report live and direct! Stay tuned.

The showcase artists for Womex 2010 are:

Africa:

Dobet Gnahoré (Ivory Coast), Cheny Wa Gune Quarteto (Mozambique), Damily (Madagascar), Malick Pathé Sow & Maoba (Senegal), Oudaden (Morroco), Fatoumata Diawara (Mali), Kamel El Harrachi (Algeria), Papa Wemba (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Nathalie Natiembé (Reunion Island).

Americas:

Karina Buhr, Samba Chula de São Braz and DJ Criolina (Brazil), Bomba Estéreo and Sexteto Tabalá de Palenque (Colombia), Tremor (Argentina), Chicha Libre and Yemen Blues (United States), Kobo Town (Trinidad & Tobago) and Líber Terán (Mexico).

Asia:

Baba Zula (Turkey), Mamer and Wang Li (China) and Desert Slide lead by Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (India)

Europe :

António Zambujo and Danças Ocultas (Portugal), LaBrassBanda (Germany), Lelo Nika & Friends (Sweden and Denmark), Matthias Loibner (Austria), Mercedes Peón (Spain), Nidi D´Arac (Italy), OMFO (Ukraine), Svetlana Spajic Group (Serbia) and Yom (France)

This edition of Womex will close with a concert by Danyel Waro from Reunion Island, who will be presented with the Womex 2010 Artist Award.
