Jimi Hendrix 40 years on

He died long ago, but the presence of Jimi Hendrix is in full effect in the year marking the 40th anniversary of his sudden death on the 18 September 1970. Re-releases, books, photographic exhibitions in Paris (at the Renoma boutique), London (Snap Gallery), San Francisco (Art Exchange), Tokyo…But why is the Hendrix myth so enduring and so talismanic? His music still sounds shockingly modern, and continues to influence an incredible number of musicians today. Jimi Hendrix is the artist who best incarnates the fabled formula of “Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll”!
