Blaze 2010: East London’s festival of music and dance kicks off on 19 June

Blaze returns in June 2010 with a sizzling summer series of the best contemporary music from across the globe. Major international artists, commissions and new works, open-air concerts, free events and promotions in new venues – including a series that reopens the historic Hackney Empire for music - mark this second Blaze festival. Highlights include the soulful sounds of Quantic and his Combo Bárbaro (24 June), master Malian musician Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni ba (2 July), free open-air dance weekender Dance Nations Dalston (3 + 4 July), young Sao Paulo tropilectro singer Céu (15 July), Nuyorican salsa legend Willie Colon (16 July), Youssou N'Dour’s Dakar/Kingston project (18 July) and Colombian roots queen Toto La Momposina (25 July).
