Aurelio Martinez plays Union Chapel Friday 4 December. Win tickets!

Garifuna rising star, Aurelio Martinez from Honduras, makes his UK debut as part of the Rolex Mentors and Protégés Arts Initiative. Following a year of cultural exchange and professional development with mentor Youssou N’dour, Aurelio Martinez presents a night of acoustic Garifuna music – Central American coastal sounds rooted in Africa.
In Honduras, Martinez is celebrated as a champion of the Garifuna people and their unique Arawak/African culture. Through music and politics (he is the first black member of the Honduran National Congress) he is a gifted advocate for the traditions and rights of the community.
