NEWSArabesque Festival at the Kennedy Centre, Washington05/02/2009
The John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts in Washington announces ‘Arabesque’ a major festival of Arab arts taking place from 23 Feb -15 Mar 2009. Over 800 artists from 22 countries will take part in the festival which features music, dance, film, literature and art installations as well as fashion and food. Theatrical shows include a production of Richard III: An Arab Tragedy, directed by Kuwait's Sulayman Al-Bassam. Bachir Attar & the Master Musicians of Jajouka from Morocco will perform live and other musical highlights include the Iraqi Maqam Ensemble and vocalist Salma El Assal from Sudan. The stunning programme represents the largest ever festival of Arab arts in the US. http://www.kennedy-center.org/ 05/02/2009
