The London African Film Festival 29 Nov-07 Dev 2008

19/11/2008

With a programme of 40 films and 10 visiting directors, the London African Film Festival is a great chance to catch up on the continent’s cinema - past and present. From early silent movies to new experimental films and featuring some of the celebrated classics, the festival includes Mahamat Saleh Haroun’s Abouna [with a soundtrack featuring Ali Farka Toure] and Earl Lloyd Ross’s An American in Sophiatown – the story about the making of the 1959 film Come Back Africa – the powerful anti-Apartheid protest documentary which was an early platform for Miriam Makeba.

The London African Film Festival 2008 is a partnership between Africa at the Pictures and the Royal African Society in association with the School of Oriental and African Studies.
