Blaze Festival 19 June – 29 July

With their annual Blaze Festival, the Barbican programme extends beyond the warm concrete embrace of their Silk Street home into neighbouring venues and outdoor spaces for a summer series of eclectic music.

Highlights include: a triple bill of new bands from Pernambuco (Eta Carinae + Fim de Feira + Rivotrill at XOYO on 19 June), a South African Shangaan Electro session (Nozinja + Tshetsha Boys + Tiyiselani + Nkata Mawewe at Rich Mix on 25 June), a free taste of New Orleans for all you Treme fans out there (Soul Rebels Brass Band in Canada Square Park on 19 July) and Egypt’s revolutionary soundtrack (A Night in Tahrir Square: El Tanbura + Azza Balba + Mustafa Said + Ramy Essam at Barbican Hall on 22 July).
