Orchestre National de Barbès – live in London 25 May 2011

The pioneering Maghrebi band Orchestre National de Barbès got together in Barbès, the Paris neighbourhood with the biggest North African community in the city. Their bouncy party sound pulls on Algerian raï, Berber kabyle and Moroccan gnawa and chaâbi, mixed with ska, reggae, and rock. Together since 1995, in France they’re a veritable institution and this rare UK show promises to be a real treat. Their new album Rendez-Vous Barbès is out now.
