Art Melody's futuristic African hip hop

Art Melody, the hip hop artist from Burkina Faso, releases his second album Zound Zandé (“The Decay”). Produced by French beatmaker Redrum and mastered by Stones Throw favourite Dave Cooley, the album crosses futuristic hip hop with soul and a trip-hoppy electronic haze, which Art Melody’s virulent lyrics, in Mooré, Dioula and French, punch through. Inspired by the militant anti-imperialist pan-Africanist Thomas Sankara, whose voice is sampled on two of the tracks, Art Melody’s songs are feverish dreams of better times for his country.
