Save A World In London

DJ Ritu's show A World In London is a rare oasis on BBC radio for world music and global voices to be heard. The weekly show, broadcast on Saturdays 8-10pm on BBC London 94.9FM, has for several years provided a unique platform, supporting new world music artists with airplay, interviews and gig guides. The alarming announcement this week that the show is to be shut down at the end of December is a serious blow to the world music scene in London and beyond (many worldwide listeners tune in online). Promoters, artists and media have responded with dismay and a campaign has sprung up to voice concerns to the BBC to save this unique and valuable celebration of the incredible cultural life of this city. As a world capital of diversity, London needs this show.
