This news may seem overdue - this book was published in the UK earlier this year. But this debut novel was pretty overdue itself, taking 11 years to write.
It is well worth the wait, winning the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction and establishing Junot Diaz as a dazzling and highly original voice in international literature. Set in New Jersey and in the Dominican Republic, we take a fast-paced ride with sci-fi ghetto nerd Oscar Wao through the island’s shattered history via the unrelenting hopes of a second-generation dreamer. A phenomenal Spanglish odyssey.
