World Festival of Black Arts and Cultures 10-31 December, Dakar
27/10/2010
Thirty three years after the last edition, the World Festival of Black Arts and Cultures is to be held in December in Dakar. Staying true to the original concept, the festival will celebrate the diversity of black cultures. When he conceived the idea in the early 60s, poet and cultural theorist Léopold Sédar Senghor (who also served as the first president of Senegal, 1960–1980) sought the affirmation of the richness of black cultures and their important place in the world.
