Femi Anikulapo Kuti was born in London on June 16th, 1962. He grew up in Lagos, raised by his mother Remi who was separated from his legendary father, Fela. Yet Femi spent enough time with his father to be deeply influenced by Fela's raw musical invention and enraged political activism. He rebuilt Fela’s legendary club The Shrine and continues to tour the world with his engaged lyrics and sax-branding music. In 2003 he was nominated for a Grammy award.
