Vinicio Capossela - Il gigante e il mago

Vinicio Capossela is one of Italy’s major artists, an acclaimed singer-songwriter, author, poet and performer, he has long been dubbed the Italian Tom Waits for his dark lyrical music and hobo persona. Vinicio’s twisted enigmatic sound follows an epic trail of influences and atmospheres including 19th century opera, Italian tarantella, Balkan gypsy music, Jim Jarmusch, Paolo Conte and Jeff Buckley. Vinicio has far transcended cult status to become an iconic cultural figure in Italy, albeit one in a very battered fedora.

At his first major concert in the UK on May 16 he will be playing songs from his most recent album Da Solo, and has created a performance inspired by circus side-shows and burlesque saloons, peopled by characters such as The Human Piñata, The Edgy Jellyfish and The Diver Octopus in Love.
