Brooklyn’s Daptone Records celebrates ten years of solid soul with the release of Daptone Gold, a collection of the label’s top tracks. Daptone’s sound has its roots in label founders Gabe Roth and Neal Sugarman’s love for vintage soul and the rich, warm quality of analogue recording techniques. One of our favourite cuts on this collection is What Have You Done ? by Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens. Born in Alabama and performing for over 60 years, veteran gospel singer Naomi Shelton released her debut album in 2009 with Daptone.
