Hollie Cook

Hollie Cook is a daughter of music. Her father Paul played drums with The Sex Pistols and her mother, Jennie Matthias, sang with The Bodysnatchers and The Belle Stars. This self-titled debut album, produced by Mike Pelanconi aka Prince Fatty, is a feel-good mix of rocksteady, reggae, dub and sweet pop which the singer herself calls ‘tropical pop’. It’s a sound full of flashbacks, with echoes of the 60s, including a cover of The Shangri-Las' 'Walking in the Sand' and the swing of lovers rock (Dennis Bovell features). Nostalgia has its place in this fresh take on Jamaican vibes.
