Born in the Senegalese region of Fouta, Baaba Maal has imposed himself as one of Africa’s greatest contemporary singers. Despite not being part of the griot caste, Maal broke through thanks to a unique voice and a remarkable grasp of his nation’s treasure trove of music. He was signed up by Chris Blackwell for Palm Pictures and has over a dozen international releases to his name, the latest being the 2009 album Television.

Cependant, j'aimerai vous faire une suggestion, certes vous avez tant chanter les louanges de nos figures emblématiques, mais l'œuvre de Thierno Souleymane Baal est souvent minimisé voire inaperçu. Rappelez vous qu'en 1776 le Fouta a obtenu son indépendance totale grâce à cet Homme. Je voudrai que vous lui dédier une chanson spéciale pour lui rendre hommage car comme disent les wolof " leuk bou léké aloom, nako santéé Yalla té gueureméé thioye " en d'autres termes rendons à César ce qui appartient à César.
